JI detainee Mas Selamat Kastari escapes from Singapore detention centre

Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) detainee Mas Selamat Kastari escaped from a Singapore detention centre on Wednesday. A statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) says Mas Selamat escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre at 4:05pm. Mas Selamat was the leader of the Singapore JI network. MHA says he walks with a limp and is presently at large. He is not known to be armed. Extensive police resources have been deployed to track him down. Anyone with information about him can contact the police at 999. Mas Selamat was arrested by the Indonesian police on Bintan island in January 2006 and then sent back to Singapore. He was wanted by Singapore authorities in connection with planned attacks on Changi airport.

I really feel injustice , sad and not worth it for him. All he did was not even helping a friend.. all he did was keeping mum. there is so many reason why he did that ,

1. Fear - what if he report police and dave kill him with the rifle?
2. Lost - How high is ur EQ to take this incident? when u see ur good friend w a rifle.
3. Can't Be bothered - Simply , it has got nothing to do with him..

So he got himself into trouble for "helping" a friend.. is it worth it? I am not measuring it in money value or anything.. end of the day Dave might not rmb him as a friend. Is it worth it? not just wasting 6 years of life.. but also 6 canes. and a black mark w him forever.

In the 1st place , how did police know dave show it to his friend?

What is Jail sentence all about?

AWOL NSman Teo's accomplice gets 6.5 years' jail, 6 strokes of cane

SINGAPORE: Ong Boon Jun and National Serviceman Dave Teo Ming were good friends. When Teo was caught with a rifle near Orchard Road last year, it was learnt he had earlier been with Ong who did not report the matter to the police. For being an accomplice in the incident, Ong was sentenced to 6.5 years' jail and six strokes of the cane on Monday.

Teo had gone absent without leave from Mandai Hill Camp on September 2 last year when he took the SAR-21 and five rounds of ammunition. With the rifle in a bag, Teo checked into a hotel in Geylang the next day. Ong was with Teo in the hotel room before Teo was caught in a toilet at Orchard Cineleisure later that night. Ong's lawyer, Amolat Singh, said his client realised he should have left the hotel room when he saw that Teo had the rifle.

Mr Amolat Singh said: "He was looking forward to the minimum mandatory sentence of five years. As you have heard, he has been sentenced to six-and-a-half-years. It's quite close to the maximum of seven years. "We will visit him in prison to take his instructions. As you know, we act on instructions. If he instructs to appeal, then we will file the necessary papers to appeal." Ong's adopted parents and a cousin were also in court. Ong's mother was visibly shaken, wiping her eyes a few times outside the courtroom.

The judge said he had considered the facts and implications of the case. He said it was incumbent on Ong to report the accused, Dave Teo, to the police so that no harm would come to anyone. More so, the judge said, because Teo had told Ong he was going to commit armed robbery. Teo's next pre-trial conference is on 6 March. For Ong, his sentence is backdated to the start of his remand last September.



The guy ish just doing his job but what he get is 6yrs of self pawnage...that is why if you are so professional in your work might even get yourself pawned..So do not feel bad when u actually eat snake at work... ^^
